Using Multiple Deskphones In Parallel

January 08, 2020

With SwitchSmith you can configure industry standard SIP deskphones for your team.

When this feature was first introduced, you could only configure one deskphone per team member.

The latest release of SwitchSmith for iOS and Android relaxes this restriction, so you can now assign multiple deskphones to the same user.

This means that any team member can use as many deskphones as makes sense for them.

For example, you can use a hard phone at your desk and a soft phone on your laptop. If online, both phones will ring when a customer calls your ring group number.

Alternatively, if you have multiple workplaces, you can configure a deskphone for each team member in each location.

Combine multiple deskphones with the flexibility to combine mobiles and deskphones and the ability to receive a gentle visual cue with a push notification when away from your desk and you get a powerful telephony tool.

With this feature, office based workers can choose to use their regular deskphone if they prefer. Ring group participants can choose to take calls on a deskphone when they are in the office. When they are out of the office, they can switch to using push notifications on their mobile.

The handling of calls via by mobile or deskphone is completely equivalent - the customer call is answered by whoever chooses to take a call first, be it mobile or desktop.
