Keeping Ring Groups Up To Date

December 18, 2019

SwitchSmith makes it simple to add and remove colleagues directly to and from any number of customer facing ring groups.

Being able to do this on the go means you can flex your customer support team around changes to your business needs.

We have recently enhanced SwitchSmith to inform group members when changes occur.

This is especially useful for distributed teams working in different places.

Staying On The Same Page

To keep everybody involved on the same page, the SwitchSmith app for iOS or Android notifies you when

  • You were added to a ring group
  • You were removed from a ring group
  • Somebody else has been added or removed from a group you belong you

In addition, if you are using the app whilst a change is taking place, the screen live updates itself to reflect the latest change, keeping you informed of the current state.

Overview For Group Admins

As a group admin, you will receive in app notifications telling you whether an invite was accepted or rejected.

The group detail screen will also live update to reflect the latest change.

When you invite somebody to a ring group, they go into a pending state until they accept the invitation. In a pending state, the new participant can receive inbound calls into the ring group, but they need to explicitly confirm each call. Once they accept the invite, the training wheels come off and the new member can choose how they will handle customer calls.

This approach ensures that customer calls do not not inadvertently get routed to the private voicemail of the unsuspecting group member, before they get used to being in the ring group.
